About Your Nutrition Coach
Registered Dietitian | Weight-Inclusive Care Advocate
Hi, I’m Ruth and my passion lies in helping folks untangle food choices from shame.
I’ve experienced firsthand how healthcare often fails those who don’t fit its narrow ideals. I’ve been dismissed for my weight, struggled to access compassionate care, and watched clients face the same cruelties. That’s why my practice rejects diet culture’s lies and focuses on what actually supports well-being →
individualized habits and building self-trust around food.
My Background
In my career, I’ve gained experience at the intersection of nutrition and systemic health barriers, including:
Earning my Master’s in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Vermont and becoming a Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist.
Supporting families at WIC, helping them navigate real-world barriers to feeding their kids.
Creating and leading an outpatient dietetics program at a federally qualified health center (FQHC), where I’ve witnessed how income, trauma, and systemic inequities shape health.
My approach is also rooted in cultural humility. With a military family upbringing, time living abroad, and Puerto Rican heritage, I understand how food connects to identity and how "healthy eating" advice often erases cultural foods. Your traditions belong at the table!
Why Work with Me?
You’re tired of being told to lose weight as a cure-all.
You want to manage diabetes, PMOS (previously PCOS), thyroid issues or other chronic condition without restrictive diets.
You’re neurodivergent and need strategies that work with your brain, not against it.
Together, we’ll focus on:
Weight-neutral metabolic health (no BMI nonsense).
Gentle nutrition that adapts to your capacity, culture, and chronic illness.
Problem-solving barriers from budget to executive dysfunction.
So often counseling and healthcare feels cold and impersonal. I can’t even count the number of times I have talked to clients and heard their previous experiences that made them feel judged, or like they were talking to a robot!
In order to bridge that gap, allow me to introduce myself a little more- beyond just the professional stuff!
Hey, I am Human too!
About Me (Ruth, the person):
I love animals- I have two dogs (Miss Honey & Hoagie), and I used to train and show horses as a teenager.
Obviously, I love food: pizza, chocolate, and ice cream are my favorites (I know, basic!)
I love doing artsy things: I paint, make jewelry, upcycle clothes, and I even like making DJ mixes to dance to!
One of my favorite parts about my job is getting to know my clients- I can’t wait for you to share your passions with me. I am honored to be able to contribute to finding balance in your life- Healthy Habits and Hobbies alike!
